stress & anxiety
management

We use techniques to relax and calm the nervous system.

coping skills for calm

For a variety of reasons, life can be challenging for many children. Though stress is a normal part of life, when it becomes hard to cope with everyday expectations, we can offer services.

We offer a bottom-up approach to finding relief from stress and anxiety. While each person is unique in their needs, we start with the Masgutova Neurosensorimotor Reflex Integration (MNRI) techniques that will focus on getting the body calm and organized with a solid foundation while addressing any unintegrated reflexes. The next step is the Safe and Sound Protocol. This is a program that helps passively calm the nervous system. It utilizes a powerful listening tool designed to impact the vagus nerve and prepare the brain for change.

About MNRI

MNRI is a set of programs focused on the restoration and maturation of primary sensory-motor patterns, reflexes, skills for optimal performance of developmental mechanisms and brain functioning. The goal of this particular method is to give children and adults the tools and knowledge to facilitate successful neurosensorimotor development, stress-management and successful learning.

Highlights of MNRI

  • Offers the “missing link” on ways to bring integrity at the neural level for protection and survival.

  • Provides tools to release sensory system protection, so that the response is an accurate reflection of an input experience, not an over- or under-exaggeration.

  • Brings integrations of the brain and the associated functions of sensory processing and motor activity.

  • Offers a possibility for the return of routine behaviors, emotional processes, memory and learning.

MNRI Method Origins

Though Dr. Masgutova began her research in 1989, the theoretical basis for her method can be attributed to scientists from many disciplines from centuries ago. After working with thousands of clients over the years, she has developed methods that enable practitioners to bring relief to children and adults with trauma, PTSD, anxiety, depression.

About the Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP)

The Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP) is an evidence-based listening therapy designed to reduce sound sensitivities and improve auditory processing, behavioral state regulation, and social engagement behaviors through filtered music. As a practical application of Polyvagal Theory, the SSP acts as a non-invasive, acoustic vagal nerve stimulator, helping to re-tune the nervous system to better support connection, collaboration and resilience. The SSP involves listening to specially filtered music through headphones alongside a provider, in-person or remotely. Suitable for children and adults, the SSP has demonstrated benefits for individuals with trauma, anxiety, sensory processing differences and more.

Highlights of the SSP:

● A five-hour auditory intervention developed and patented by Dr. Stephen Porges, author of the Polyvagal Theory.

● Designed to reduce sound sensitivity, and improve auditory processing and behavioral state regulation.

● Activates the client’s social engagement system, helping to accelerate and enhance therapeutic outcomes.

● Supports physiological state regulation, allowing for greater resilience.

Polyvagal Theory: the Science of Feeling Safe

Developed by world-renowned researcher and Unyte’s Chief Scientific Advisor, Dr. Stephen Porges, Polyvagal Theory focuses on what is happening in the body and the nervous system, and explains how our sense of safety, danger or life-threat can impact our behavior. Understanding Polyvagal Theory gives us a scientific framework that can be applied through physiological, or “bottom-up” therapies, to help change and improve how we feel, think and connect with others.
